Katelyn + Ben
Katelyn and I met in the ol' EC days, when we would stand behind a desk, wipe down counters, and chat all day. It feels like a lifetime ago, but those days are still vivid in my mind as some of the most hilarious days at work! Last year, I was just a baby freelance photographer, taking the summer to recharge and imagine life living out my dream. When Katelyn reached out, I was elated and excited to be asked to capture her wedding day!
Katelyn planned a small, intimate celebration for her and Ben. It started with the girls getting ready downtown and features one of my favourite moments of getting ready so far: a bridesmaid feeding a McDonalds hashbrown while the bride gets her make-up done. This has become the golden standard in my mind and often ask if my bridesmaids will do the same for me!
The ceremony took place in a tucked away area at Queen Elizabeth Park amongst Katelyn and Ben's family. It was sweet, quaint, and personal. We escaped the heat by hiding in the shade and taking photos in the beautiful garden.
The party moved to one of Katelyn and Ben's favourite neighbourhood bars: The Regal Beagle. Decked out in purple and white, the entire bar was closed down to hold all of their family and closest friends. The night was filled with endless laughs, exotic candies, and a polaroid keepsake manned by yours truly! There, Katelyn's brother officiated a second ceremony for people to witness and enjoy.
I've said it once, and I'll say it again and again and again. I will never tire of being a part of people's big days and it means so much more when it is someone I care about so deeply. Being a part of this day was magical and I love seeing such intimate weddings pack such a giant punch!
